Ease of creating dynamic QR codes

Hovercode does allow dynamic QR code creation, but there are some limits in place. The free plan only gives you 3 dynamic codes total, and even the highest tier caps at 2,000 codes for $99/month.

Scanning user experience

Scanning was pretty much simple. However, while the core scanning flow is functional, it lacks polish. For example, when we generated a contact QR code, rather than opening as a landing page with the name and contact of the person, it opened as a white screen with just the calling button. Some reviewers also felt that scanning could be improved and wished for richer ‘link-in-bio’ style features where all social links could appear in one scan. 

Bulk QR code generation

Hovercode supports bulk creation through CSV uploads, but only in premium tiers starting at $39/month. That makes it inaccessible for smaller teams or marketers testing campaigns. 

Custom landing pages

Hovercode lets you create branded micro landing pages, but there are only a few templates available. The website doesn’t even clearly state how many custom landing pages you can create with each plan. 

QR code types support

Mobiqode handles all kinds of QR codes: URLs, PDFs, vCards, and more. That said, we noticed some types, like text codes, defaulted to static instead of dynamic without much explanation.

Team management & access

You can collaborate with your team, but the feature only kicks in at the Business plan, which starts at $39/month. This excludes smaller teams working on lower-tier or free plans.

Basic analytics

Hovercode’s analytics are pretty basic. You only get total scan counts: no info on locations, demographics, or how people are actually engaging.

It can also be a bit glitchy. For example, we scanned a QR code once and it showed ‘2 scans’ on the dashboard. Other users have also pointed out that the analytics aren’t strong, with no click-through tracking or insights by region.

Customization limitations in Hovercode

Hovercode promises design flexibility, but many users feel the customization options fall short. The free plan offers minimal templates (only around 18 in the free plan), forcing upgrades for basic branding features.
